These drone insurance plans all satisfy the 1 million Thai Baht liability insurance requirement for drones in Thailand.

If all details are submitted correctly we will issue you a drone insurance certificate by the next business day so you can start your drone registration process. If you are visiting Thailand we recommend to apply 1-2 weeks before you arrive to allow time for the CAAT registration process.

We also offer a Thailand drone registration service to help register your drone with CAAT and NBTC on your behalf. You can purchase this service after buying your drone insurance.

These drone insurance plans are exactly what you need if you’re looking for personal drone insurance, hobby drone insurance, or commercial drone insurance to comply with drone regulations in Thailand.

While these drone insurance plans cover the needs of most customers, sometimes unique circumstances mean there is a need for a custom quotation. Please review the additional information below to confirm that you and your drone meet the criteria and that you can obtain the required information and documents.

Liability Limits

Total liability limit for the above plans is 1,000,000 THB as an annual aggregate in respect to the combined item 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 below.

  1. Loss of life or total disability of third party – up to 1,000,000 THB
  2. Bodily Injury, illness of third party – up to 1,000,000 THB
  3. Loss of or damage to property of third party – up to 1,000,000 THB
  4. Defense costs and expenses – up to 1,000,000 THB
  5. Expense to bail the Pilot if the insured Drone has an Accident resulting in such person being arrested on a criminal charge – up to 100,000 THB

 

Liability Deductible

There is no deductible for liability claims.

 

General Notes

  • Total Premium is inclusive of 0.40% Stamp Duty and 7% VAT.
  • The Premiums are for each drone. Premium for multiple drones will be calculated accordingly.

Loss of or damage to Insured Drone

Coverage
1. Loss of or damage to the Insured Drone arising from the Accident during the period of insurance
2. Including disappearance for 60 days after the commencement of Flight

Type of Indemnification
1. Indemnified by Repair
– To pay the repairing costs of the damaged Drone at the time of loss
– Repairing costs including cost of transport, labour or materials
– Subject to Policy Deductible, salvage or depreciation of new replacement parts of the Insured Drone
2. Indemnified by Cash
– Indemnified by Cash If the Insured Drone is unable to repair
– To pay sum would be required to repair the Insured Drone but not exceeding Insured Value
– Subject to Policy Deductible or salvage of the Insured Drone

Exclusions
1. Loss or damage arising from wear and tear or gradual deterioration
2. Loss or damage arising from mechanical or electrical breakdown
3. Loss or damage arising from theft only if there is violent or forcible entry
4. Loss or damage for which a manufacturer or seller must be liable to pay

Legal Liability to Third Parties

Coverage
To legally liable for loss or damage to third party as a consequence or Accident arising from Insured Drone for:
1. Loss of life, bodily injury, illness or health of third party.
2. Loss of or damage to property of third party.
3. Defense costs and expenses.

Exclusions
1. Liability to family members, staffs, directors or employees of the Insured
2. Consequential loss or indirect loss or unidentified loss
3. Civil fines, criminal fines, penalty or punitive damages
4. Claim for any financial or pecuniary loss
5. Expenses incurred from recovery of property from a third party

Bail for Controller of Insured Drone

Coverage
To pay expense to bail the Insured, Operator or Pilot who uses the Insured Drone if the Insured Drone has an Accident resulting in such person being arrested on a criminal charge. Up to bail amount as determined by an officer or court, but not exceeding the amount as stated in the Policy.

General Exclusions

The Policy does not cover:
1. Policy Deductible
2. Claim arising from Nuclear Risks
3. Claim arising from Noise & Pollution
4. Claim arising from War Risks
5. Claim arising from illegal purpose of purpose other than those stated in the Policy
6. Claim occurred whilst the Insured Drone fails to comply with all laws or regulation pertaining to the Insured Drone
7. Claim occurred whilst the Insured Drone fails to comply with instruction manual or advice from a manufacturer
8. Claim occurred whilst the Insured Drone is being controlled by any person other than as stated in the Policy

ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS SUBJECT TO THE ISSUED UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEM OPERATORS INSURANCE POLICY

These drone insurance policies cover almost all retail drones used for personal, hobby and commercial uses in Thailand. To be sure please review the below criteria on drone size and uses.

Uses

  • Private Pleasure and Commercial only.
    i.e. General mapping, photography, videography and survey
  • Daytime flight only.
    Night time flight subject to approval from CAAT and subject to Insurer’s agreement

Excluding any of the following special uses:

  • Security / Police Work / Military
  • Powerline Work
  • Ab-Initio Training
  • Agricultural Spraying
  • Sporting Events and Festivals
  • Offshore (over large bodies of water)
  • Underground / Confined Spaces
  • Cargo Delivery

For any special uses please request a custom quotation.

Utilisation

  • Up to 250 hours per annum.

If estimated utilisation exceeds 250 hours please request a custom quotation.

Geographical Limit

  • Thailand only

If other countries are involved please request a custom quotation.

Insured Drone

  • Standard plans cover all standard manufactured drones except “FPV” style drones with wearable goggles. The standard plans are not applicable to self-designed, self-made, custom-made, FPV or RPV type drones. Manufactured FPV or RPV type drones are covered under the specific “FPV” plans only.
  • For plans with drone damage or “hull” cover, sum insured should be 100% of purchase price.
  • Maximum weight of the drone is up to 25 kilograms only.
  • Maximum age of the drone is up to 5 years from year of manufacture.
  • Insured drone must be registered or in process of registration with the Authorities.

Operator or Pilot of Insured Drone

  • Operators declared under the Policy only. Unnamed operators are not covered.
  • Up to 2 named operators only at order stage
  • Additional operators / pilots to included upon request for up to 10 persons / policy

Precedent Condition

The insurer shall not be liable for indemnity under this Policy unless the Insured shall have complied with the terms of this insurance contract and the conditions of this Policy. Thailand rules to apply for permission and conditions to control and launch Unmanned Aerial Aircraft.

Insured drone must complete the registration process prior to flying.

We will require the following information from you in order to issue the drone insurance policy:

    – Thailand address for residents
    – Temporary address for non-residents
    – Office address for corporate clients
  3. Start date of Insurance / Policy Period (coverage starts and ends at 16:30 hours)
    – Insurance start date is the date you purchase the policy, no option for a backdated or future start date.
    – Annual Policy only. No short period; no discount on short period.
    – No return premium in case of early cancellation.
  4. List of Drones
    – Make and Model
    – Year of Manufacture
    – Serial Number
    – Purchase Price (required only for Plan 2 and Plan 3)
  5. Uses
    -Private Pleasure
    -Commercial
    The above can include:-
    – General mapping
    – General photography
    – General videography
    – General survey

  6. Geographical Limit
    – Thailand only

    -Up to 10 named operators only
  8. Required Documents
    For Private / Individual:
    – Copy of ID / Passport of the Insured
    – Drone Photos (all sides and photo with serial number)
    For Company/ Corporate:
    – Copy of Company Registration Certificate
    – Copy of VAT Registration Certificate (Porpor 20)
    – Drone Photos (all sides and photo with serial number)

In the event of an Accident or claim of Insured Drone, the Insured shall:

1. Notify us or the insurer without delay.

2. Collect the following details of claim and provide to us or the insurer:
– Photos of damaged Drone
– Flight Log
– Brief details of accident including:
a) Date and Time
b) Location
c) Cause of accident
d) Extent of damage

3. Immediately forward to us or the insurer any court writs or order or decree.

4. Not agree to, propose or promise to pay claim with any person without receiving consent from us or the insurer.

5. Not act in any way to the detriment or prejudice of the interest of us or the insurer.
