We have many questions about the process of registering and using your drone in Thailand. Especially since the restrictions have been changing recently due to the border conflict.
For most tourists arriving on holiday in Thailand the process will be;
- Buy your drone insurance and optional registration service before you arrive
- Arrive in Thailand
- Send us a photo of your immigration stamp for NBTC registration if you are using our drone registration service. Or handle your NBTC registration yourself.
- Obtain a Thai phone number – either an eSIM or physical sim card
- Use your new Thai phone number to create an account on the CAAT portal at https://uasportal.caat.or.th/
- Complete the pilot test on the CAAT portal and finalise your drone registration, with our drone registration service we’ll help you do this.
- Download the UAS Portal mobile application from the app store, you may have to set your region to Thailand
- Log in to the UAS Portal mobile app using your CAAT account logins
- Submit a flight plan in the app for each day you plan to fly your drone, must be done 3 days in advance of the flight. You can follow our UAS Portal app guide with screenshots.
- Wait for your flight plan to be approved, expected around 3 days
- When you are ready to fly your drone, open the app and the relevant flight plan, and press the “Start Flight” button when you begin and “End Flight” button when you are done.
