Insurance for Airport Service Providers in Thailand
As an airport owner, operator or a provider of services for an airport, you will need to purchase insurance against any loss, damage or injury caused by your activities.
This insurance covers various airport operations, ranging from air traffic control to airline catering companies, as well as aircraft cleaning, maintenance, refuelling, repair service companies and ground handlers.
Liability is usually sub-divided into three generic categories – Premises, Hangarkeepers and Products.
Normally, the wording of any liability insurance policy in Thailand, provided to you as an airport owner, operator or an airport service provider, will include all three of these categories.
Premises Liability Insurance
Premises liability insurance in Thailand protects you from claims arising from any property damage or bodily injury that occurs on your property. This will be covered by the geographical limits of where you do business as an airport owner, operator or service provider.
Your insurance cover will identify you against any claim for property damage or bodily injury caused by an incident that occurs on your property. However, insurers will most probably limit its own liability in accordance with both local law requirements in Thailand, as well as international law.
It is possible that insurers will also require you make a contribution towards settlement of the claim (or deductible).
Hangarkeepers Liability Insurance
Aircraft hangar insurance in Thailand covers loss or damage to an aircraft or equipment while it is within your care, custody or control. Aircraft hangar insurance will cover any aircraft or equipment that is being either handled, maintained or serviced by you, so long as you do not actually own, lease or rent the aircraft or equipment.
Insurance cover will be limited to the geographical limits of your property as stipulated by the insurers.
It is likely that insurers will limit its liability to only one occurrence. Any payment will also be subject to a deductible The airport hangar insurance cost is likely to be included within the total cost for all premises liability in Thailand.
Products Liability Insurance
Aircraft products liability insurance in Thailand can be provided to any business that either repairs, or delivers refuelling, service or maintenance facilities, including where aircraft parts are supplied at an airport.
Aircraft cleaning insurance, aircraft detailing insurance, aircraft products liability insurance and aircraft repair insurance cover the insured party against any property damage or bodily injury that occurs on your property within the geographical limits of your property as stipulated by the insurers.
Activities covered by products liability insurance in Thailand include the use or handling of any good or product that is designed, constructed, altered, repaired, serviced or distributed by you. However, the insurance will only cover goods that are either part of the aircraft or are used in connection with it. Even then, the insurance will only cover you when the goods are no longer in your possession.
As with aircraft hangar insurance, it is likely that insurers will limit their liability to just the solitary occurrence.
It is also likely that insurers will provide a single combined liability limit that will cover the three categories – premises, hangarkeepers and products.
